Registration
with AES - £47.00 (incl. VAT) includes a passport.
(PLEASE NOTE THAT FOALS/HORSES SHOULD BE REGISTERED WITHIN
THE YEAR OF BIRTH OTHERWISE A LATE REGISTRATION FEE OF £70.50 APPLIES)
The
AES is a highly regarded studbook registering quality sport horses. With
members throughout Europe, registration with the AES signifies a quality-bred
horse. Simply
send us the following:
| The
Covering Certificate fully completed with the horses dam and
sire at the time of covering. |
| The
ID markings diagram completed by a vet on the reverse of the
Covering certificate - this must have been done while the foal is
still with its mother, before weaning*. |
| If
you have a vaccination card this can be inserted in the passport. |
| If
the dam and sire are not registered with the AES we require a photocopy
of their pedigrees and registration papers. |
|
Any
microchip or branding information.
|
| Your
name, address and contact number as the owner. |
| A
cheque for £47 made payable to AES Ltd. |
*If
this has not been done and the horse is weaned, if your vet knows the
foal and mother and can confirm the foal is out of the mare on the covering
certificate, a letter confirming this from the vet is sufficient. If this
is not possible please see section on DNA.
PLEASE
NOTE: We require copies of actual registration documents for the dam
and stallion if they are not already known by the AES (e.g. previous offspring
has already been registered). WE DO NOT ACCEPT hand written pedigrees.
If all the
above is in order with sufficient payment we are able to process passports
usually within 2 weeks. Please alert us to any special circumstances e.g.
if you are showing/competing, and need the passport urgently.

DEFRA update
New legislation
by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) regarding
human consumption laws means that you may require additional paperwork
to be added to your passport.
To check
if you require this please look at the back of your passport - the back
of the last page may be blank with "Official endorsements by Customs
and Other Authorities". This means that the passport needs the
DEFRA update - Section 9. To apply for this you can
Either:Send
us a Stamped Addressed Envelope with a note requesting the DEFRA update,
the number of passports you need it for and the name(s) of the horse(s)
and we will send you the additional pages. You must then slot these in
the back of the passport - please note there are three pages in total
for the update, one page headed Section A and two pages headed Section
B part 2.
Or:
Send us the passport with a cheque for £11.75 and we will rebind
the passport with the DEFRA update.
Updating
Owner Details - £23.50 (incl. VAT)
If you have
bought a horse with an AES passport you need to update the Owner details
to your own. To do this you must send us the passport with a cheque for
£23.50 and a note detailing your name, address and contact
number as the new owner. We will change the details and return the
passport and we will also ensure it has the DEFRA update included in it.
Duplicate Passport - £70.50 (incl. VAT)
If you have a
horse that you believe is registered with the AES but does not have a passport
or any paperwork it is possible to apply for a duplicate passport.
You must forward
us a covering letter confirming the name of the horse detailing why the passport
has been lost. You
must supply you name, address and contact number as the new owner. We
will re-issue the passport to you; we usually hold copies of all ID markings
and pedigree.
DNA Testing
- £100 includes passport and registration (incl. VAT)
If you cannot
confirm the parentage of the horse by a covering certificate or Identification
completed before weaning the next step for proof of pedigree is DNA testing.
You must tell
forward us as much information and paperwork (as required in the Registration
section) for the horse along with your cheque. We will check we already
hold DNA for the mother and father and we will then forward you a DNA
testing kit, this comprises of the following:
| A
sample bag, you must take some hair from the mane that includes the
root and place it in the bag. This bag is addressed to go the Animal
Health Trust for testing. |
| An
ID sketch card for your vet to complete. |
| Instructions
for carrying out the test. |
| You
will send the hair sample to the AHT and return the ID card to us
and we will await results. Please note that results can take over
1 month, we will notify you when we receive them. |
If we do
not hold DNA for the stallion or mother you will need to contact the owner
and a DNA test must be carried out for them also.
Please note that
DNA testing can only be conclusive if we can match DNA from the offspring
with the believed parents. We may encounter problems if DNA held for the parents
is an old sample. We endeavour to eliminate unnecessary cost for the owners
of the horse however we can never guarantee results will be conclusive. Consequently
refunds are not available on inconclusive DNA tests, as resources have already
been used.
